Background Noise is a daily online comic about relationships, parenting and politics in the gig economy. We write and draw for a living and for fun – that means we spend a lot of time on the couch in front of our screens.


 John Hazard is a freelance illustrator, animator and educator.

John spent over a decade working at Nickelodeon where he provided game design, online animation and avatar character creation for the brand website including playing a core role in the development and execution of Nicktropolis, an online chat and gaming environment for kids. His Nickelodeon on-air credits include the TV movie Shredder Man Rules, the interactive show U-Pick Live and Animation Director for the on-air series Romeo!.

John has taught Humor & Caricature and digital art at the Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art. His comics include: Schmooze or Lose and Frankenstein Superstar. John has also illustrated several children’s books for New Horizon Press.

John is available for art commissions, illustration,  and the creation of branded content including comic strips that help tell brand stories in a disruptive and engaging way. 

 

Lisa Burdige tells stories for brands and for fun.

With over a decade of agency experience, Lisa has developed award-winning ideas and content strategy for top brands including Vonage, L’Oreal Paris, Claritin, BNY Mellon, Chase, Danon, Nokia, Dell, Kimberly Clark, Pfizer, Nationwide, Microsoft, and others. She is known professionally for her insights and ability to root out consumer truths and personally for her ease at defusing team tension by poking fun at the craziness that goes into making creative work great.

Lisa has taught writing at many universities including NYU, FIT, John Jay College of Criminal Justice and taught playwriting with many theater education programs including Manhattan Class Company.

Her published writing includes short fiction, essays, and short plays.
